“The disasters that struck Moore Oklahoma are emotionally shattering,” said Benjamin. “And while immediate efforts are being made on the ground to rescue animals in danger, recover lost animals, reunite families with their pets and rebuild the community, I can’t help but take action on what needs to be done. The funds raised from the celebrity campaign will assist to alleviate the costs accumulated from the immediate actions taken during the disaster relief including but not limited to staff, material and supply costs.

In 2011, Benjamin was instrumental in the disaster relief efforts in Joplin, MO, launching a national campaign to support the local animal rescue and recovery teams and provide immediate onsite emergency shelter and veterinary medicine. In conjunction with Joplin Animal Control, the Humane Society of Missouri, Humane Society of the United States and The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) Benjamin’s call to action supported the operation of shelters for homeless persons and their pets to ensure that as many animals as possible received necessary and prompt attention.
