Our Mission

At American Dog Rescue, we believe no healthy dog should go without a home. Our mission has evolved to address all components of that philosophy. First, we help animal shelters, foundations, local governments, and non-government organizations to rescue and find loving homes for lost and unwanted dogs. Second, we support organizations that rehabilitate and provide medical treatment to dogs so they can be placed with qualified, responsible caregivers. Finally, we work with dedicated partners to reduce the population of unwanted dogs by spaying and neutering stray and rescued animals.

Our Story

Arthur E. Benjamin founded American Dog Rescue in 2009, but his commitment to animal welfare extends much further. Inspired by the outpouring of human relief following Hurricane Katrina’s devastation of New Orleans in 2005, Arthur wanted to mount a similar effort to save displaced and newly homeless dogs. Living in Utah, where was CEO of a successful marketing agency at the time, Arthur underwrote a rescue team organized by Salt Lake City-based Best Friends Animal Society. The team traveled to Louisiana and rescued nearly 1,000 animals. Since then, Arthur has donated his services – business acumen, management skills, organizational knowhow, and professional contacts – to help Best Friends and several other animal charities streamline operations, raise money, and run their programs efficiently.

Seeking to formalize the process. Arthur founded American Dog Rescue Foundation as an all-volunteer organization Thanks to Arthur’s generosity – he personally covers all the organization’s administrative costs – 100 percent of every donation to ADR is committed to our partners’ projects to that provide animal welfare, provide living space, care, and food at no-kill shelters, and educate people on the importance of animal and environmental stewardship.

Contribute

The global pandemic hit animal rescue and welfare agencies hard. Donations are down, stray and street dog populations are way up, and the ability to critical vaccination, sterilization, and rehoming services has been compromised. Meanwhile, puppy mills, dogmeat farms, commercial animal testing, and random acts of animal cruelty continue.

You can help American Dog Rescue reverse this trend. Every penny of your contribution will be put to use saving, protecting, and caring for neglected and abused dogs, cats, livestock, and wild animals. Nothing you give will be uses to pay executive salaries or other operations costs. American Dog Rescue underwrites all these expensed associated with your gift.

American Dog Rescue continues to sponsor and support organizations across the country and around the world in their efforts to save dogs’ lives, heal their wounds and diseases, and find them loving, forever homes. We work with partners who put boots on the ground to solve the homeless dog and cat overpopulation problem and educate people on the proper care and respect for the animals that share our planet.
